A Mikoshi is an elaborate vehicle in which the spirits of gods’ are transported to a temporary shrine during a festival. On Mishima again, I stumbled into a ceremony- snapping this photo just as a group of robed volunteers hoisted the Mikoshi above their heads. I only had my Lomo camera on me at the time, allowing only one chance to get a shot and giving this photo its vintage, edgy feel.

The toilet facilities in the Mikoshi look a spot primitive?

I’m not sure Gods require toilets

The bucket, James!

I didn’t see that there. I imagine a bucket would be a bit undignified for a God. It would at least be gold plated.
