This post has a parental guidance warning and is probably not safe for work. In Nagato, near Hagi, there is a fertility shrine and, like most laments to fertility, it concentrates on just one thing. It was fairly well hidden and took a bit of time to find as the locals were a bit bemused with our limited, and probably quite crude, Japanese descriptions of what we were looking for. Apparently, the done thing is to buy a ceramic one, write a wish on it, and stash it with the others.

Well it worked for me, as the blog author will attest!

They are pretty big actually. I almost brought one as a souvenir but didn’t fancy bringing it back through customs

I understand there is actually a large Anglo-American contingent there, Rob…..
