伏見稲荷大社 (Fushumi Inari) is one of my favourite things in Kyoto. An elaborate labyrinth of red tori gates winding their way up and up to a stunning vista across the city. Its a winner every time.
A quintessentially Japanese scene, taken from the windy summit of this shrine.
On my island school (Mishima) there is a temple on a hill, atop some rough and rambling stairs. It glints serenely on the horizon through a tunnel of tori gates- a gate framed by a gate, framed by a gate, framed by a gate.
