Day 255- a spider and it’s web (part 3)

Every Thursday, I visit an island to teach a little School there. It’s a quaint place, quiet enough to hear the winds whisp and the trees rustle. Between lessons, I like to take a meander through the tumble down streets, stopping occasionally to bow and say hello to passing fisherman or one of my students skiping home from school.

I always seem to end up at the islands shrine, which sits atop a hill and offers a peaceful point across the island. A view you can see in part two of this series of photos, on which the subject built its web. Theses photos were taken two weeks later – the spiders web still in place and his colours as striking as ever. I say ‘he’ as spiders seem to have a predisposed gender. I don’t like to think of a girl one.

Day 254- down the stairs

Moseying about a temple in Kyoto, my eye was caught by this rugged old staircase – picturesque, yet conspicuous in an absence of people. Like a stage waiting for its actors or a photo waiting for it’s muse. I hung around for a while and eventually a hustle of people appeared at the summit, slowly bustling their way downwards in a series of photos…
