Day 313 – happy accidents

Shutter Speed: 5 seconds, Aperture: F/3.8, ISO: 500

I took these photos on an evening stroll through the old samurai quarter of town – adorned and glittering with twinkling lanterns, strewn about like stars.

Without a tripod I propped my camera wherever I could find and set my shutter for some long exposures. Leaving the photos up to chance and producing some happy accidents.

Please vote for me – the kerala blog express

My blog has just recently cleared the qualifying stage to take a ride on the Kerala Blog Express

The Blog Express is a nifty competition set up by the board of tourism in Kerala. It gives qualifying participants the chance to win a two week adventure through India’s majestic and colourful South. To participate, you just need a travel blog – it could be food related; travel journalism; documentary based; photography; where to buy your socks whilst in Istanbul – anything.

Once your blog is accepted it’s down to a vote – the top 25 participants at the close taking poll position for a converted ticket on the bus. So it’s down to tweets, likes, blogs and emails to try and rustle up a few votes. If you have a spare few seconds please click on the monkey below and send a vote my way. I would really appreciate it!

WINNER – picstop.co.uk animal photography competition AND monkey news

This crazy haired little guy has won me a couple of photo competitions – most notably  the Times ‘citizen traveller’.

Just recently, he received another trophy to put on his monkey mantle when pictstop.co.uk (a great UK based photography store) named him the winner in their animal photography competition. Take a look here.

I was lucky enough to win the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT Tripod with a GH100 Grip Head. It’s has been amazing on its outings so far and it has some great reviews.

monkey news

On a side note, a recent bit of monkey photo news via petapixel.com. A creative chimp named Mikki recently earned a life time supply of banana money when he sold some pictures by (and of) him for a huge £50,000 at Sotheby’s auction house.
