I snapped this outside a local temple – home to these stunning stone lanterns. The vibrant red gate, grand and intricate, combines subtly with rolling green hills to conjure something uniquely Japanese.

Very nice!! What do you think the most unique part of Japan is?

Hard to say 🙂 My home is in a very small city, on the beach. It does feel like a very unique, traditional part of Japan. I am biased though!

I want to give each of my kids a trip as a graduation gift. My son really wants to go to Japan, but from what I understand it is really expensive compared to the states. What do you think?

Japan can definitely be expensive! Though there are special deals you can buy outside of Japan for travel on the Skinkansen. Definitely look into that if you decide on Japan.
