Day 294 – Roy Lichtenstein

Recently I stumbled upon the art of Roy Lichtenstein. I hadn’t previously heard of him but immediately recognised some of his paintings. An unknowing familiarity you only get with truly iconic artists – like a Beatles song you always loved but never knew. These are a few of Litchtenstein’s most famous pieces-

The first image above is the most recognisable Lichtenstein image. The second however, is my favourite – simple, traditional and calm. It inspired me to try and recreate the effect on some photographs I took during rice planting season.

After some photoshop tinkering I ended up with a before and afters-
