Hagi, my home in Japan, is famous for being an old Samurai town. You can see tour groups following a clip board around town- shuffling around the many gift shops. I recently rediscovered that the old Samurai part of town is quite pretty; I suppose if you cycle past something everyday it eventually blends into the background and you stop noticing. The streets are narrow and quaint, lined on either side by whitewashed walls with rustique woodwork. Orange trees grow in the gardens, poking their heads over the top of the walls. It’s a lovely place to walk around. Doing just that, I took this photo. I liked the leading lines of the road and wall, vanishing into the distance- framing the striking reds of the last Autumn leaves.
