The kids are on school holidays at the moment, which in Japan does’t meen too much- they still go to school to do club activities and you always see them riding around town in their school uniforms. Fortunately, I am exempt, so days can end up quite lazy with time to kill. Wanting to get out of Hagi for the afternoon, we decide to visit a pagoda we had been told was a little bus ride away. It isn’t the most spectacular around but it was still an amazing sight, serene amongst gardens and Buddhist shrines. “Ahh the serenity” (that’s a reference only one person might get).
